Along with the testing of coolants, Amalgatech's resources also lend themselves to the evaluation of heat exchangers such as radiators and heater cores.Recently, Amalgatech has added the ISO 22241 protocol for Diesel Exhaust Fluid Testing (DEF Testing) Diesel Exhaust Fluid is the new companion fluid used in today's "clean diesel" engines to reduce NOx Emissions. DEF Testing is critical to insure the purity of the fluid, so that the DEF does not cause problems that can cause the vehicle to shut down.
Diesel exhaust fluid (from a separate DEF tank) is injected into the exhaust pipeline, the aqueous urea vaporizes and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. Within the SCR catalyst, the NOx are catalytically reduced by the ammonia (NH3) into water (H2O) and nitrogen (N2), which are both harmless; and these are then released through the exhaust.[3]
